During the 12-week internship, you will:
Also, you will:
Time and Pay
-Working the Papillion gardens 20 hours per week at $10/hour.
-Learning an additional 8 hours per week (committed volunteer and education time) participating in education and activities at the Juvenile Justice Center, and learning/serving at the "Our Heart", the farm.
20 hours of work + 8 hours of education and volunteering = 28 hours per week
If you are interested in a full farm experience for the entire growing season, in addition to the internship, there is a housing option for a work exchange and mentorship on the farm for an additional 20 hours per week at New Earth Farm & Goods. The farm will also pay additional stipend percentages from farm sales to the farm residents.
There are two spots available for this position. These two farm residents will receive a more rounded-out educational and work experience working and learning during an entire growing season in a diversified farm context.
Commitment and Investment
Keipos is committed to investing in you and giving you the very best experience possible this summer. This also means that we desire commitment from you. People with "skin in the game" will have the best possible growing and learning experience. We are only looking for interns who are willing to make it through the entire 12-week program.
Those who are selected as interns from the pool of applicants will be required to make a $500 refundable deposit. To interns who fulfill their hourly and weekly time commitment, this money will be returned at the end of the 12-week internship, in full. (We will make exceptions for special requests where the time can be fulfilled in close proximity to the 12-week period.)
What Former Interns Had to Say
"Interning at Keipos this summer helped me to understand my function in God's creation. I learned so much about plants, soil life, animals, and living in community. This experience is definitely one that i will always remember. It was a great time of learning about God and how everything that God created is supposed to work together to reflect who He is! Also, I feel more equipped to help the poor and those around me to meet their needs in a way that glorifies God. "

"Being an intern for Keipos gave me the most memorable and productive summer I’ve ever had. I learned more about permaculture, sustainable practices in building and farming, and how to actually make a difference in a community. I got a variety of unforgettable experiences-one of my favorites was witnessing piglet births. Staying on the New Earth Farm during the week allowed me to experience living on a farm and the unexpected problems that may arise and how to solve them. I encourage anyone wanting to learn about permaculture or building community and relationships to be a part of Keipos and its mission."
--Isabella (2015 Intern)
"This internship has been all about doing. Anything from doing work for God and his kingdom to simply doing life with some good friends and growing alongside them. The internship was a great way to break the normal, boring summer job routine and replace it with something more valuable, more exciting, and oftentimes more productive. I feel way more in touch with the community after meeting with many people within it that I probably would never have met otherwise, as well as visiting places I would have no reason to visit. I'm excited to see what develops in the North Omaha homes in the near future!"
-- Tim (2014 Intern)
"An incredible and awesome experience. It opened up the world of sustainable agriculture. If you're not so ambitious as to be a farmer for the rest of your life, the training offered can still be used daily"
